The Institute for Research in the Social Sciences (IRISS) is a core facility supported by the Vice President for Research and College of Liberal Arts at Colorado State University which aims to connect and support social scientists with other researchers, as well as university, community, and industry partners. We develop and deliver services that enhance social science research capacity, help to improve grant competitiveness campus-wide, promote interdisciplinary research networking opportunities and provide and support research methods training in support of the University’s land grant mission.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Institute for Research in the Social Sciences (IRISS) is a core facility supported by the Vice President for Research and College of Liberal Arts at Colorado State University which aims to connect and support social scientists with other researchers, as well as university, community, and industry partners. We develop and deliver services that enhance social science research capacity, help to improve grant competitiveness campus-wide, promote interdisciplinary research networking opportunities and provide and support research methods training in support of the University’s land grant mission.
The Research Associate II will work with project manager(s), senior staff, and student staff to conduct social science research. This will include (1) developing and administering surveys, (2) facilitating or assisting with focus groups and interviews, (3) cleaning and managing data, (4) analyzing quantitative and/or qualitative data (5) creating data visualizations, charts and graphs, and (6) developing reports and/or presentations to deliver results to clients.
The Research Associate II will work both independently and in a team environment collaboratively with supervision and draws upon appropriate research methods to perform designated tasks. The Research Associate II should possess excellent analytical, strategic-thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills. The successful candidate will build strong and positive working relationships with staff, unit directors, researchers, campus faculty and
administrators, as well as external community and business partners as required with each project and grant. The Research Associate II will support other organizational priorities, as defined by the Senior Project Manager.
REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree and more than 3 years of relevant professional experience or a Master’s degree in social science, science, or related field from an accredited university.
- Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative social science methods and best practices, i.e., survey analysis, sampling methods, proficiency in R or STATA, etc
- Two or more years experience managing and analyzing social science data.
PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with data visualization software.
- Experience with Social Network Analysis.
- Experience using Qualtrics.
- Demonstrated knowledge of university policies, administration, and operations.
- Knowledge of regulatory and fiscal policies and procedures related to research.
- Knowledge of human subjects research regulatory practices.
- Excellent verbal, editing, and writing skills.
- Experience supervising and managing student staff.
