Description:
A Research Associate position is available for an outstanding and ambitious biomedical engineer to undertake research in the field of bioengineering research. In particular, this researcher will be an addition to Professor Sarah Cartmell’s group, and have the unique opportunity of working in collaboration with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where there will be a period of travel as a visiting researcher. The collaboration is part of a grant funded by the Chinese University of Hong Kong, focusing on tendon repair, where the Cartmell Group will focus on mechanically and electrically stimulated bioreactor design and development using mammalian cells.
You should have, or be working towards, a PhD or equivalent in biomaterials, bioengineering or similar. Expertise in cell culture, bioreactor design, computer aided design, tissue engineering, biocompatibility testing, and mechanical testing techniques are essential. You should be capable of working under your own initiative and assisting in leading a small research team, so excellent communication and organisational skills are also required. The appointed research associate will also be supporting Professor Cartmell by grant writing, manuscript journal submission and assisting with MSc supervision and undergraduate student projects.
