Description:

We are seeking a Research Associate to join the Electronic and Interface Materials Laboratory at the Oxford Materials Department for a 5-month project, under the leadership of Prof Sebastian Bonilla. This role will be part time at 0.5 FTE (18.75 hours per week).
They will play an active role in the project research activities and contribute to the overall teams aim of understanding and developing improved solar cells. In this project, they will be responsible for investigating, developing, and optimising a new spatial atomic layer deposition kit in materials to deposit transparent conducting oxides that can serve as selective, passivating, and interconnecting layers in perovskite-on-silicon tandem solar cells. The project will be carried out in close collaboration with Dr Zhuotong Sun from NanoPrint Innovations Ltd.
In addition to the fundamental work required to develop highly efficient nanolayer interconnects, they will develop the cell production processes in collaboration with a team of doctoral students, postdocs, and collaborators. They will use solar cell processing and characterisation techniques, such as photoconductance, PL, EL, EQE, SunsVoc, standardised IV, reflectance spectrometry, SEM, AFM, and EBIC. This project will involve working with external commercial and academic partners, requiring excellent communication and organisational skills. The role will also include publishing and disseminating scientific results through journal articles and conference presentations, and developing new grant proposals for future work. Responsibilities will also include involvement with other projects in the research group in terms of supervision and mentoring of junior students, and support for developing new research topics within the research team’s fields of expertise.
