RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN SPECTROSCOPY & IMAGING IN JENA
At the Leibniz Institute of Photonics Technology (Leibniz IPHT) we are looking in the Research Department Spectroscopy & Imaging, Work Group Raman and IR spectroscopic analysis, for a full-time position for a
JOB DESCRIPTION
Infrared-based microscopy techniques have the great potential to analyze tissue samples on a large scale, and with high spectral and lateral resolution, so that corresponding methods can be directly integrated into the clinical-pathological workflow. Quantum microscopy is a new development for which novel light sources as well as innovative detection methods are being researched in the joint project QUANCER, which go far beyond the current state of the art in IR microscopy. QUANCER is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as part of the lighthouse projects of quantum-based metrology to address societal challenges.
The work packages of Leibniz-IPHT are related to the application of spectroscopy and imaging in the infrared range for the assessment of cancer. Tasks include the characterization of a demonstrator and the integration of dedicated data processing and classification routines that utilize the potential of entangled photon detection. A unique infrastructure of Fourier transformation infrared microspectrometers and quantum cascade laser coupled infrared microscopes with direct and optical-photothermal detection is available at the research group Raman and Infrared Analytics.
YOUR QUALIFICATION:
- PhD degree in data sciences, bioinformatics or related disciplines
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Expert knowledge in processing of infrared spectra and images using Matlab, Python or similar programs
- Advanced expertise in biomedical infrared spectroscopy and chemometrics/machine learning which is proven by an adequate publication record.
- Good command of written and spoken English
