Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) is in constant evolution. We are now looking for a highly motivated associate who will contribute to the development and application of human-relevant bioassays.
The Research Associate will join our Ophthalmology Discovery Department located in Basel, Switzerland. This group has a robust early development portfolio in both retinal and anterior segment diseases and works closely with internal and external experts across many specialties.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • 3+ years of experience in a research lab and an M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in a related scientific field, lab associate or similar education.
  • Familiarity with standard lab equipment and data analysis software (e.g., Prism or similar, Electronic lab book, G-suite)
  • The ideal candidate should possess scientific and intellectual curiosity and be willing to learn and apply innovative research tools, such as advanced human cellular model systems and molecular analysis in cellular resolution
  • You have excellent knowledge of cell handling and experience in cell isolation from tissues
  • Proficiency in English
  • Moreover, you are a motivated research assistant with excellent scientific, communication and organizational skills, fully committed to team effort but able to work independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execution of experimental work and conduct data analysis
  • Generate cellular in vitro models of ocular diseases
  • Working with primary cells, cellular 3D systems or organoids (retinal, conjunctival etc)
  • Perform cell engineering via nucleic acid-based modalities
  • Apply state of the art molecular technologies for in vitro or ex vivo analysis such as:
  • expression profiling (qPCR, scRNA/snRNA library preparation)
  • protein analysis (Western blot, ELISA, FACS, Luminex, immunohisto-/ cytochemistry)
  • Perform microscopic image analysis (fluorescence microscopy, high content imaging)
