programs, the university unites the natural and engineering sciences with the humanities, social
sciences and medicine. This wide range of disciplines is a special feature, facilitating interdisciplinarity
and transfer of science to society. As a modern employer, it offers attractive working conditions to all
employees in teaching, research, technology and administration. The goal is to promote and develop
their individual abilities while empowering everyone to reach their full potential. TUD embodies a

At the Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry, the Chair of Theoretical Chemistry offers a
position as
Research Associate (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
starting February 1, 2025.The position is limited until January 31,2026 and entails 65% of the full-time
weekly hours. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act
(Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further
academic qualification.
The position is available in the research group of Dr. Dorothea Golze at TUD. In this position, you will
have a chance to make an impact on the exploration of new 2D materials for next-generation
quantum materials by developing and applying advanced theoretical methods.
Tasks: Your task will involve developing and applying accurate computational tools to predict the
vibrational spectra of low-dimensional materials, accounting for resonant and solvent effects.
Specifically, you will contribute to developing a small code package that processes output from
electronic structure codes to generate vibrational spectra. The primary focus of your work will be on
2D materials. These methods will be applied in close collaboration with our experimental partners in
the CRC 1415 and RTG 2861.
Requirements: university degree in physics / chemistry / material science, preferentially with
theoretical background. We are looking for a motivated candidate, who is interested in electronic-
structure theory and code development. Basic programming skills in Fortran and Python are
expected. Experience in performing ground and excited-state calculations with the code packages FHI-
