Position Summary:
Under the supervision of Professor Stephen Yue, we are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate to join our team at the McGill-NRC Advanced Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing facility located in Boucherville. The successful candidate will be responsible for duties including structuring unstructured data, implementing data visualization tools, developing relevant machine learning approaches, and implementing real time monitoring and processing systems
The tasks of this position include but are not limited to the description below:
- Develop and implement data fusion techniques to integrate data from various sources.
- Structure unstructured data such as videos to facilitate analysis and interpretation.
- Design and implement a database.
- Implement data visualization tools to present complex data in an accessible and actionable manner.
- Develop and apply machine learning algorithms to analyze data and extract meaningful insights.
- Implement real time monitoring and processing systems to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate data-driven solutions into the researcher’s projects.
- Analyze and interpret data to support research objectives and provide actionable insights.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to data fusion, machine learning, and real-time processing systems.
- Document procedures, methodologies, and results in technical reports and publications.
Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in data fusion, structuring unstructured data, and data visualization.
- Experience with data validation and cleansing processes to ensure high data quality and integrity.
- Strong experience with SQL and database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Experience with big data technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Proficiency with programming languages such as Python, R, MATLAB, or similar.
- Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks and tools.
- Experience with real-time data processing and stream processing technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Must have at least five (5) years experience in the general area of data fusion
