Department of Chemistry

Position Summary:

  • Carrying out laboratory experiments and data analysis in corrosion, material characterization, and electrochemical microscopy
  • Communicating scientific research through various platforms such as peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and workshops
  • Develop transformative coating strategies to prevent corrosion of metal at the macroscopic scale using heterocyclic carbene
  • Analyzing the corrosion behaviour of thermally/cold-spray coated metal alloy samples of industrial significance
  • Work with graduate and undergraduate students, supervising and helping them progress in their scientific careers

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytic skills and attention to detail are essential
  • Complete and consistent ethical conduct of research
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems effectively and in a timely manner. Must be a self-motivated worker who can work both autonomously and in group settings in a complex, changing, and deadline-oriented environment

Experience and education:

  • PhD in Electrochemistry
  • Five years of postdoc experience

Location: This position is located in Montreal, Quebec and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec.
Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 on a scale of 0-4.
