Position Summary:
Under the supervision of Professor Stephen Yue, we are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate to join our team at the McGill-NRC Advanced Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing facility located in Boucherville. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the proper signal processing, data acquisition, and automation of various advanced diagnostic equipment, including laser ultrasound, laser triangulation, multispectral infrared camera , and high-speed imaging systems.

The tasks of this position include but are not limited to the description below:

  • Develop and implement signal processing algorithms for laser ultrasound, laser triangulation, multispectral infrared thermography, and high-speed imaging equipment.
  • Design data acquisition systems to ensure accurate and reliable data collection.
  • Automate diagnostic equipment to enhance efficiency and repeatability in experimental setups.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to diagnostic equipment and data acquisition systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate diagnostic systems into ongoing research activities.
  • Analyze and interpret data to support research objectives and provide actionable insights.
  • Document procedures, methodologies, and results in technical reports and publications.

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. degree in Physics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in signal processing, data acquisition, and automation.
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as Python, C++, LabVIEW, or similar.
  • Proven hands-on experience with optical systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience in the general area of signal processing and automation
