POSITION DESCRIPTION

Dr. Julien’s laboratory at The Hospital for Sick Children Research Institute is looking for a Research Associate to assist in executing laboratory experiments and managing research staff and projects in the characterization of antibody-based therapeutics for treatment of infectious diseases. We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic scientist with experience in structural, molecular and cell biology who can thrive in a highly collaborative research setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Work under the direction of the Principal Investigator to execute antigen-antibody characterization experiments including but not limited to cell based in vitro experiments, protein purification, biophysical assays, and determining the three-dimensional structures of proteins.
  • Manage, assist, and mentor research staff in protein purification and biochemical assay development.
  • Develop and / or optimize experimental methods that provide opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Support and collaborate with project team members to meet deliverables and timelines.
  • Analyze, interpret, and report experimental results to senior staff and at lab meetings.
  • Grow your knowledge and technical skill set around the use of antibodies for treatment and diagnosis of infectious diseases.
  • Interact as required with internal and external contacts.
  • Prepare discussions and scientific reports in written, verbal or graphical form as required.
