Description:

Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the laboratory of Professor Luca Pellegrini in the Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge, UK.
The successful applicant will work on biochemical reconstitution and structural characterisation of protein complexes important for Homology-Directed DNA Repair and genomic stability, see for instance Appleby et al, Nat Comm, 2023 (doi: 10.1038/s41467-023-42830-1); Hanthui YW et al, Mol Cell, 2024 (doi: 10.1016/j.molcel.2024.07.004).
To achieve this goal, the successful candidate will use a multi-disciplinary approach that includes preparative biochemistry of multi-protein complexes, protein engineering and state-of-the-art biophysical and structural techniques. In-depth experience of production of recombinant multi-protein assemblies by expression in insect cells and/or mammalian cells is required. Knowledge of quantitiative biophysical techniques for characterisation of macromolecular interactions would be an important advantage.
The University of Cambridge is a signatory to the San-Francisco Declaration on Research (Assessment DORA) and in recruitment or promotion evaluations will assess research on the basis of its merits rather than the journal or venue in which it is published. Applicants should not include Journal Impact Factors or uncontextualised metrics in their applications. For more information: https://www.research-strategy.admin.cam.ac.uk/research-policy/DORA
Applicants should submit a CV with list of relevant publications, a cover letter explaining why they are suitable for the position and contact information for at least two referees.
The funding is available from 01 December 2024.
