Research Associate (Photonics)

at  NANYANG TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY

The School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering is looking for a Research Associate to work on a project to conduct research on Van der Waals Engineering for All-optical Neuromorphic Chip.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and fabrication of van der Waals heterojunctions
• Build up optical characterization setup and perform device characterization
• Simulation and characterization of semiconductor materials.
• Perform the measurement of optoelectronic device
• Conduct the defect testing of the semiconductor materials.
• Collect and analyze the experimental data
• Manuscript preparation
• Work with the team members and help to prepare reports related to the project

Job Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Electronic Science and Technology, Optical Engineering, Material Science, or other related background.
• More than 5-years relevant research experience in synthesis and characterization of 2D materials
• A desire to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment.
• Self-motivated and good tasks initiative.
• Experience in van der Waals heterojunctions design and device fabrication.
• Proficiency in the design, assembly, and maintenance of ultra-high vacuum equipment
• Familiarity and direct experience in optoelectronic characterization related system and measurement.
• Proficient in the use, maintenance, and repair of molecular beam epitaxy equipment
• Proficient in test equipment of photolithography, homogenizers, magnetron sputterers, plasma etchers, tube furnace CVDs
• Substantial knowledge in on-chip photonics devices and architectures for all-optical neuromorphic computing.
• Excellent communication and writing in English - essential for data analysis and communication with stakeholders
