Responsibilities:
We are recruiting a Research Associate / Postdoctoral Research Associate – Nanoparticle Development to be part of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) project on “Quantum triangulation for deep tissue imaging in NIR-II” which aims to develop and validate quantum-enhanced, near infrared capabilities for accessible imaging in bone and bone marrow, advancing medicine and improving lives. This role focuses on nanoparticle development, with duties including designing and synthesizing lanthanide-doped quantum cutting nanoparticles that operate in the near-infrared II (NIR-II) range; modifying the nanoparticles to ensure biocompatibility, making them suitable for deep-tissue imaging; and collaborating with the UQ team to implement NIR-II particles for high-resolution and intravital imaging in deep tissue. You will conduct high-quality research and produce impactful publications. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will actively seek external funding through grant applications and foster relationships with external professionals, government bodies, and industry partners. About You As a Research Associate / Postdoctoral Research Associate, you will be a self-motivated individual with strong leadership skills, capable of taking responsibility for initiating and delivering innovative research in quantum cutting nanoparticles, rare-earth ions doped nanoparticles. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in managing research projects, as well as a track record of supervising and teaching students effectively. This role requires someone who can inspire and guide the next generation of researchers while driving impactful research outcomes. Other requirements include:
- A PhD in materials sciences or a very closely related field.
- Strong research publication track record
- Ability to secure competitive research grants

Base Salary Range: $91,390 to $111,307 pa (Level A) This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary. The position is full-time and will be made 2-year fixed term basis.
