Description:

Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities. It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialisation and deployment. ERI@N has multiple Interdisciplinary Research Programmes which focus on translational Research, Development & Deployment which focus on specific area of the energy value chain, and a number of Living labs and Testbeds which facilitate large scale technology deployment enabling validation and demonstration of real-world applications.
We are looking for a Research Associate to develop and advance sustainable construction materials, focusing on innovative applications in the built environment. The role will drive research in eco-friendly material development, optimize material performance, and explore novel applications in construction. This position will contribute meaningfully to our overarching commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship, while fostering innovation in green building technologies and circular construction practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and perform in-depth analyses to develop sustainable construction materials, with a focus on improving performance, durability, and environmental impact.
  • Develop and implement innovative methods for incorporating recycled materials and industrial by-products into construction materials.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design, test, and optimize new eco-friendly materials and sustainable construction techniques.
  • Ensure project compliance with environmental standards and sustainability certifications while contributing to the university’s mission.

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in civil engineering, Materials Science, or related field
  • Knowledge of sustainable materials and circular construction practices
  • Experience in materials characterization and testing
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Research experience in sustainable construction materials or related areas
  • Proficiency in materials testing equipment and analysis software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with emphasis on sustainability
