POSITION DESCRIPTION
Subbarao Lab is seeking a Research Associate
The Subbarao lab studies how early-life exposures and experiences shape lifelong health. Our current research is focused on disentangling the heterogeneity of asthma by using sophisticated statistical approaches that longitudinally characterize asthma traits of allergy and lung function in the CHILD cohort study and other clinical asthma datasets. Furthermore, our work focuses on the evaluation of asthma endotypes, identification of risk factors for asthma, and characterization of inflammation and lung growth traits in children from infancy.
Our team is transdisciplinary, combining expertise in physiology, statistics, epidemiology, nutrition and maternal-child health. We collaborate and use model systems, clinical cohorts, and administrative databases. We also work closely with health care professionals and patients. We have a diverse group of trainees from undergraduate students, clinical trainees and graduate students to post-doctoral fellows.
Responsibilities:
- Carries out independent research projects in line with the interests of the lab; and uses specialized expertise or knowledge in asthma, epidemiology, clinical trials and respiratory physiology to collaborate with team members and contribute to highly networked team projects.
- Support development and submission of grants
- Supervise and guide trainees in developing research questions for clinical trials and/or epidemiologic studies related to asthma and lung function and liaise with biostatisticians to develop clear and detailed analysis plans.
- Support and oversee trainee research projects, conference presentations and project proposals
- Oversee the hiring and training of staff members who are working on the study and lab
- Provides direction within the research group on epidemiological and technical matters and remains current on research of current principals and theories.
- May assist the PI/Manager in preparing reviews of others’ grant application and manuscripts as appropriate
