QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Medicine, or a related field.
- More than 2 years postdoctoral fellowship or equivalent experience in a related field.

Responsibilities:
- Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Associate plays a lead role in the design of experiments/procedures, data collection protocols and research/data standards in machine learning, image processing, medical imaging, and clinical research.
- Stays up to date on advancements in these and related fields and incorporates advanced techniques, procedures or protocols to conduct research.
- Oversees data collection and analysis. Conducts quality analysis and quality assurance on methodology/experimental approach/technique.
- Performs high-level administrative/managerial duties (e.g. budget monitoring, procurement, staff supervision, equipment/ technical support), in addition to research duties, in support of the Principal Investigator.
- Summarizes, analyzes and organizes data for publication. Is expected to co-author and when relevant, co-present research papers, presentations and/or other publications.
- Is involved in the planning of future research, particularly the preparation of research grant applications and contract proposals.
- Takes responsibility for the day to day maintenance and efficient operation of the lab, overseeing allocation of work space and computing resources.
- Guides technical staff, students and/or post doctoral fellows in the lab on a daily basis, according to the strategic direction of the primary investigators.
- May assist with lecture preparation and marking for graduate-level courses within the department, but formal teaching is not a large part of this role at this time.
- May be a co-applicant for research funding if stipulated in the appointment letter.
- The Research Associate II will oversee multiple research projects covering the development and validation of artificial intelligence tools applied to various imaging modalities in multiple clinical areas.
- They will liaise with the Principal Investigator, other lab members, academic collaborators and industry partners to maintain and enhance existing AI tools, help build a strong multidisciplinary team, and expand clinical studies.
- They will assist the Principal Investigator in addressing the day-to-day concerns of a group of approximately 5-10 MSc and PhD students and postdoctoral fellows.
- They will oversee a complex budget currently >$600,000/year from multiple sources.
