Responsibilities:
The University of Portsmouth’s Revolution Plastics research initiative was initiated in January 2020 to contribute to the evidence base needed to address the global plastic pollution crisis. Since then, time, we have worked in partnership with intergovernmental organisations, countries, local communities, and many other universities and civil society partners to support informed and effective action on plastic pollution. We are now beginning the next phase of our journey, with the launch of the University of Portsmouth’s Revolution Plastics Institute.
The Institute will build on our existing successes through providing a platform to scale up our activities, with the overall aim of building an inclusive world-leading research and practice community that underpins the global transition to a sustainable plastics future.
As part of the development of the new Institute, we are looking to recruit a Research Associate. The successful applicant will be involved in developing and executing research projects, liaising and networking with internal and external partners, developing, analysing, and interpreting research data, and writing-up and presenting research findings. In collaboration with colleagues, the Research Associate will be involved in writing papers for the academic and popular press, conference presentations, and will pro-actively support the vibrant research culture within the Institute.
This appointment is a fixed-term contract to 31 December 2026.
