Description:
We are looking to appoint an independent and motivated Research Associate to join the research group led by Dr Matt Towers. The successful applicant will work on a BBSRC-funded project investigating how cells in the developing chick wing ‘know’ their positions so that they can use this information to develop into the different skeletal elements (humerus, radius/ulna and digits). This project directly follows on from our recent work in which we developed a powerful chick wing tissue explant system.
Applicants must hold a PhD (or be close to completion/have equivalent experience) in a subject related to cell/stem cell/developmental biology. Experience in chick embryology and good theoretical knowledge of developmental biology are also essential. Experience in light-sheet microscopy, flow cytometry, HCR in situ techniques are desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to have excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills, and be able to work to a high standard.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
