Description:

Working in the laboratory of Prof. Walter Marcotti, this BBSRC funded project will investigate the mechanisms purinergic signalling in the developing and ageing mouse cochlea. This role provides an opportunity to work as part of a large and vibrant team present within the Hearing Research group at Sheffield.
The project will primarily involve using electrophysiology, functional imaging and morphological approaches applied to a wide range of transgenic mice. Candidates should have knowledge of and expertise in electrophysiology applied to the auditory system along with a PhD (or be working towards a PhD) in a Biology or Neuroscience related subject.
You will contribute significantly to the ongoing research in Prof. Marcotti’s laboratory by designing, developing and performing experiments, data analysis and disseminating the findings by writing papers and abstracts and by presenting work at conferences and seminars. The successful candidate will be required to work in collaboration with other PDRAs and PhD students in the laboratory. As such, an ability to work in a team is essential.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
