The Webber Energy Group at the University of Texas at Austin is looking for a Research Associate with an expertise in energy and infrastructure systems modeling. The Webber Energy Group analyzes energy and environmental problems at the intersection of engineering, policy, and commercialization. Our goal is to change the way the world thinks about energy by 1) conducting rigorous multidisciplinary research that stands the test of time then 2) communicating findings of that work to a broad audience. Purpose
To contribute to and lead current and future analytical and modeling projects in the Texas, national, and global energy system related to electricity, hydrogen, clean mobility, energy storage, efficiency, grid resilience, demand response, decarbonization, health, equity, agriculture, and buildings.

Responsibilities

  • Write scholarly and general interest articles.
  • Help supervise Graduate students.
  • May teach classes and seminars, utilize social media, and help write proposals to raise additional support for projects.
  • Mentor Undergraduate Research Assistants
  • Attend weekly group meetings.
  • Participate in national/international conferences.
  • Present work to general audiences and policy makers.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD related to energy and environment quantitative.
  • 4 or more years of relevant post-doctoral experience.
  • Expertise in Rand/or Python programming languages, including large date processing (>1 TB)
  • Teaching experience of undergraduate and post graduate energy studies courses.
  • Knowledge and experience with policy formulation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in energy demand in the built environment with interdisciplinary relevance e.g. public health.
  • Experience of building stock energy modeling at regional or national level.
  • Experience of modeling greenhouse gas emissions intensity of non-energy sectors, such as agricultural products or materials life cycle.

Salary Range
$70,000 - $94,000
