JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a full-time Research Audiologist who will support the laboratories of Dr. Aaron Moberly and Dr. Terrin Tamati for NIH-funded studies focused on adult cochlear implant outcomes.
The primary roles of the full-time Research Audiologist will be to partner with the Principal
Investigators for oversight of the process of structured protocol development, participant
recruitment and testing; training of research assistants; collection, scoring, and
management of participant data (including maintenance of RedCap database); writing of

abstracts and manuscripts related to these projects; support with writing grant proposals.

  • Ideally (but not required) the applicant would have some experience with cochlear implants

and testing of human participants, along with experience with behavioral experimental
tasks, and prior experience using RedCap. Preferred (but not required) background in
Hearing and Speech Sciences, Audiology, Psychology, Linguistics, or related fields. Ideally the
applicant should have an AuD degree, PhD, or AuD/PhD degrees.
CITI human subjects and GCP training will be required.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Data collection: Works with the principal investigator (PI), laboratory personnel (including students and post-doctoral fellows), clinical audiologists, otologists, and other medical and research personnel for collaborative research projects.
  • Participates in data dissemination, assists in development and writing of manuscripts for publication.
  • Remains current in new developments in topic areas related to research projects; reads professional journals, participates in journal clubs, engages in professional learning experiences.
  • Completes data entry, data management and initial data analyses.
  • Assists in equipment calibration.
  • Supervises students working in laboratory.
  • Conducts comprehensive audiometry (pure tone and speech), middle-ear immittance measures, otoacoustic emissions, auditory evoked potentials; air conduction, bone conduction, electrically evoked responses, hearing aid and cochlear implant fittings, programming, and verification, unaided and aided speech recognition testing
  • Executes psychoacoustic-based experiments including tonal detection, masking, spectral and temporal resolution, pitch discrimination, etc.
  • Executes experiments involving objective assays of auditory function, that can include responses from the middle-ear, cochlea, and neural responses from peripheral and central pathways
  • Organization and IRB-compliant protection of source data.
