At the Seattle Institute for Biomedical and Clinical Research (SIBCR), scientists seek new ways to improve the health and well-being of Veterans through research and education conducted at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System and Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center.

This Research Coordinator position will support a large study funded by the Department of Defense that is evaluating whether a new self-management/cognitive rehabilitation psychotherapy intervention leads to improved outcomes for Veterans with a history of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). The research coordinator will support the day to day operations of this study. The position is based at the Seattle Division of the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, with a significant amount of telework possible. The Research Coordinator will be a key member of the study team who will work under the direction of the Principal Investigator and the Project Manager. This position will require an individual who understands the principles of clinical research, has the skills to implement a study protocol, and is able to extract and manage data collected from the VA medical record. The candidate must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills. A Master’s degree in a science-related field is required. Some on-site work at the University of Washington will also be required. The salary is based on the applicant’s research experience and includes benefits.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree or higher
  • Knowledge of research compliance regulations
  • Outstanding organizational and communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience working with large dataset
  • Experience working with the VA electronic medical record system
  • Experience using Microsoft applications including Outlook, Sharepoint, Word, Excel, and Access

DESIRED EDUCATION:

  • At least 3 years of experience working in a related area
  • Knowledge of research compliance regulations
  • Experience using a reference manager

Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily operational support including coordinating lab meetings and planning sessions
  • Manage all regulatory materials, including IRB and HRPO submissions and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Prepare summary reports related to study progress and audits
  • Support screening, enrollment, and follow-up of study participants according to study protocol
  • Development and maintenance of databases and files
  • Verify accuracy of research study data using Excel, REDCap, or similar programs.
  • Assist with the clerical and administrative support of the project.
  • Establish and maintain positive collaborations with investigators, Veteran Advisory Board, and research and other team members.
  • Manage EndNote (or comparable) database for publications
