The Etzioni lab at Fred Hutch develops statistical and computational tools to support evidence generation for decision making in cancer prevention, screening, and treatment. We are currently particularly focused on evidence generation around novel diagnostic technologies for cancer screening and treatment targeting. We analyze data from clinical trials, population studies, and observational cohorts to learn about the factors that drive patient outcomes and how to intervene to reduce the burden of cancer in sustainable and equitable ways. We are a team of 6 full-time researchers and have an extensive portfolio of ongoing projects and numerous national and international collaborations.
The Etzioni lab is seeking applications for a Research Data Analyst Assistant for the group. The position requires a highly motivated individual with a goal-oriented and self-motivated work attitude. The position will be responsible for providing basic bioinformatics/statistical support by using defined methods to analyze, maintain and report scientific data and will work under close supervision of the Principal Investigator or lead analyst.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes defined methods to analyze data to support the aims of the NIH grants, publication of results and development of new hypotheses.
  • Use R or similar programming tools to perform proper QC, normalization and transformation of data and perform basic and guided statistical analyses.
  • Document algorithm/software version and threshold/settings annotation and tracking.
  • Extract data from appropriate sources/resources.
  • Maintain and organize array data repository in the lab.
  • Generate reports and support preparations of manuscripts based on data analyses.
  • Perform preliminary data clean-up and check for duplicates.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school degree is required and at least two years of college coursework in the biological sciences and/or computer science/programming.
  • Strong oral and written communication and critical thinking skills are required.
  • Must be flexible and able to work well in a team environment.
  • Must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS in a related field

    The hourly pay range for this position is from $22.21 to $31.61 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
