POSITION SUMMARY:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Data Associate.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing support for diverse translational behavioral medicine research initiatives and related projects within the Center for Healthful Behavior Change in the Institute for Excellence in Health Equity. These projects include evaluating the effectiveness of health information technology and mobile health applications for chronic disease management, application of implementation science frameworks, study of patient-physician communication in vulnerable populations, and elucidating the social determinants of health and psychosocial factors of behavior change among others. The position reports to and is guided by a highly respected, experienced faculty member whose expected program outcomes are best facilitated by an individual with highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, strong leadership and personnel management skills, exceptional organizational skills, and experience with patient-oriented research. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with numerous other professionals across a variety of disciplines, including general medicine, community medicine, epidemiology, cardiology, and biostatistics. Points of intervention include individual and group work with patients and families, as well as direct collaboration with providers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

To qualify you must have a Associate’s degree plus one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer literate with good interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in science, public health, health education or a related field. Prior experience in a health care settings and/or research level interviews
Prior patient education experience
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $26.55 - $30.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Participant Recruitment and Data Collection: Assist with developing participant recruitment plans; recruit and screen patients for eligibility; if eligible, complete necessary paperwork, questionnaires, and tests. Review entered data, edit obvious errors, and obtain missing information. Document all data accurately and neatly. Maintain patient confidentiality. Adhere to adverse events reporting protocols.
  • Participant Tracking: Track participant flow through the study and update tracking logs in an accurate and timely manner. Maintain participant tracking databases for compliance with data monitoring and confidentiality protocols. Contact participants to schedule them for study visits and send retention letters as needed.
  • Intervention Delivery: Follow treatment and control group intervention delivery protocol rigorously. Update all tracking logs associated with the interventions in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Site Relationships: Establish and maintain positive relationships with recruitment sites and participants. Demonstrate effective and professional communication with recruitment sites and study participants. If needed, assist Project Coordinator with site recruitment.
  • Project Knowledge: Demonstrate mastery of research protocol. Have a thorough knowledge of current department research studies and their rationales.
  • Administrative Duties: Assist with administrative duties as needed such as filing, copying, faxing, deliveries, and document preparation among others. Assist with institutional review board submissions as needed.Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
