Description:

Fusion Pharmaceuticals, a member of the AstraZeneca Group, is a clinical-stage oncology company focused on developing next-generation radioconjugates (RCs) as precision medicines. Fusion connects alpha particle emitting isotopes to various targeting molecules to selectively deliver the alpha emitting payloads to tumors. Fusion’s clinical portfolio includes: FPI-2265 targeting prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA) for metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer currently in a Phase 2 trial; FPI-1434 targeting insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor currently in a Phase 1 trial; FPI-2059, a small molecule targeting neurotensin receptor 1 (NTSR1), currently in a Phase 1 trial; and FPI-2068, a bispecific IgG-based EGFR-cMET targeted radioconjugate currently in a Phase 1 trial. In addition, Fusion is pursuing combination programs between RCs and DNA Damage Response Inhibitors (DDRis) and immune-oncology agents. Fusion has a fully operational Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliant state-of-the-art radiopharmaceutical manufacturing facility to meet supply demand for Fusion’s growing pipeline of RCs.
Fusion is seeking outstanding applicants for a Research & Development Laboratory Manager to support a broad range of preclinical development activities. This position is lab-based, and located in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Health Sciences, Animal Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-7 year of experience working with animals or in a clinical research lab environment.
  • Organized with proven ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and communicate with colleagues at all levels.
  • Experience with the safe handling of radioactive and biohazardous materials/waste.
  • Willingness to take on new tasks and responsibilities as required.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of the daily operations of the Biology, Imaging and Radiochemistry labs in the ILLF, as well as the Chemistry labs within Fusion’s R&D Facilities.
  • Evaluate, organize, plan, direct, the maintenance needs of the Fusion Research labs, including: equipment maintenance and servicing, waste disposal, laboratory safety related inspections, laboratory cleaning services.
  • Maintain external relationships with key consumable vendors, service providers (example: biohazard, chemical waste disposal, LN2 supply and gas cylinder supply) and McMaster University CAF/AREB/Biosafety/Health Physics within the context and scope of enabling efficient operations of Fusions ILLF and animal facility.
  • Support reagents and consumables ordering for the R&D Teams.
  • Collaborate in cross-functional initiatives to help run the ILLF effectively and efficiently.
  • Establish and maintain standardized processes, constantly review and implement new processes to drive continuous improvement in our operations.
  • Participate in the implementation health and safety programs and activities such as training, communication, inspection, generation and review of safety SOPs and WIs, investigation and the promotion of general safety.
  • Oversee and coordinate laboratory audits, safety compliance records, biological, chemical and radiological shipment/receiving paperwork, SDS/Biological, radiological and chemical inventories.
  • Help coordinate shipments, deliveries and the scheduling of escorted maintenance personnel.
  • Oversee daily delivery pick ups from main reception and the delivery to the appropriate lab/refrigerator/freezer or staff member.
  • Escalate issues to upper management for support as required.
  • Facilitate relationship building within the organization to improve lab initiatives.
  • Manage a team of lab ops technicians who will support and execute on many of the above responsibilities.
