Description:

The Research Development Manager (Fellowships and Individual Awards) will be a key member of the Research Development and Innovation (RDI) team and will work alongside the Associate Dean for Fellowships and Individual Awards to develop and implement strategic initiatives within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health (FBMH).
In the context of FBMH’s target to increase research income year on year, focus will be on growing the fellowships and individual awards portfolio, improving our performance and increasing our national position. This will include supporting applications to secure funding from external fellowships and individual major awards, such as ERC Consolidator and Advanced, NIHR Research Professorships and Wellcome Discovery Award schemes for instance.
You will be a proactive, highly skilled, organised and motivated individual with proven experience of playing a substantive role in the preparation/evaluation of large, complex grant proposals and delivering an increase in research funding. Key aspects of the role include gathering funding intelligence, horizon scanning and capacity building to ensure that FBMH is well positioned to respond to funding opportunities. Initiating and leading project and partnership activity and maximising relations with relevant parties and services will be important for success.
You will report to the RDI Manager and will be a key member of the RDI team. The group of Research Development Managers work closely with senior academic leadership (Vice-Dean for Research and Innovation, Faculty Associate Deans and Divisional Research Directors) and other RDI functions (e.g. business engagement, impact and translational research) to enable the Faculty to realise its ambitions. As a senior, active member of the Faculty Fellowship Academy team, you will work with other professional service colleagues to deliver an outstanding service to support candidates for externally funded fellowships as well as current award holders.
