The Durham College Research Ethics Board (REB) was established to oversee and conduct a review of research projects involving human participants, in accordance with the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans, (TCPS2 2022), and the related Durham College policy and procedure.
REB membership requirements are designed to ensure the board has the necessary basic background, expertise, perspectives and independence to conduct an informed independent reflection and a competent research ethics review.
The REB currently has two vacancies for the role of community member, effective September 1, 2024.

Responsibilities:

  • Review relevant research materials before each monthly meeting and contribute to meeting discussions from the participant perspective;
  • Attend monthly REB meetings to discuss REB matters and conduct full board reviews of REB applications;
  • Complete delegated reviews of REB applications, as assigned;
  • Engage in professional development opportunities provided by ORSIE, where applicable, including the annual full-day REB Retreat.
