The Centre for Future Materials (CFM) at UniSQ, delivers world class research in the design and development of innovative materials for diverse engineering applications. CFM’s true strength is in industrial engagement and development, to develop personnel, IP, new products, and open new sectors through collaborative research programs which utilise industry funding leveraged against state and national funding mechanisms to de-risk the cost of research and deliver maximum impact for industry, the funding body, and UniSQ. CFM is working closely with industry and other research institutions to develop cutting-edge technologies, through fundamental research and industry application in advanced composites and concrete, and to provide solution-support to the community.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a research specialist to join our research centre and carry out cutting-edge research studies in Composite Geotechnical Support Elements.
Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Reporting to the Associate Professor (Geotechnical Engineering), you will conduct research to explore next generation composite geotechnical engineering support elements with robust strength properties. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing a cohesive research profile under the guidance of a mentor or supervisor, focusing on advancing your expertise in geotechnical engineering.
- Conducting a comprehensive literature review, executing systematic experimental studies, performing data analysis, and preparing detailed reports for our industry partner.
- Compiling progress reports, participating in industry meetings pertinent to the research project, and effectively communicating and disseminating research outcomes.
- Establishing and building collaborative research partnerships with a variety of partners.

Your energy and initiative, combined with your knowledge regarding Composite Geotechnical Support Elements will be key to your success in this role. In addition, you will have:
- an Honours degree or higher qualification in textile engineering or manufacturing, or geotechnical/mining/civil engineering with manufacturing experiences or equivalent tertiary qualifications. Progression towards completion of a Doctoral qualification will be highly regarded.
- relevant experience in advanced composite manufacturing, pultrusion, braidtrusion, vacuum infusion, injection moulding, multifunctional composites, compression moulding, extruder designing, polymer resin infusion, and other composite manufacturing expertise. A willingness to learn geotechnical/manufacturing engineering concepts under the direction of the mentor is preferred and encouraged.
