Location: University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, Birmingham UK
Full time starting salary is normally in the range £35,880 to £45,163 with potential progression once in post to £47,874
Grade: 7
Full Time, Fixed Term contract up to September 2025

The post holder will have a knowledge and experience of health economics in order to undertake a trial-based economic evaluation as appropriate and carry out appropriate analyses.

Responsibilities:

MAIN DUTIES

  • Review and critically appraise relevant economic literature
  • Identify and collect appropriate cost data
  • Estimate costs and conduct a trial-based economic evaluation
  • Analyse and interpret research data as directed
  • Apply knowledge in a way which develops new intellectual understanding
  • Contribute to developing new models, techniques and methods
  • Support the writing of reports and papers for publication
  • Support the dissemination of research findings using appropriate and effective media, including publications in leading journals, presentation at conferences and meetings
  • Develop research objectives and proposals for own or joint research, with assistance of a mentor if required
  • Contribute to writing bids for research funding
  • Supervise students on research related work and provide guidance to PhD students where appropriate to the discipline
  • Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines
  • Undertake management/administration arising from research
  • To a limited degree, support the HEU teaching programme, particularly in relation to the Masters programme in Health Economics and Health Policy/Econometrics
  • Support any other appropriate activities that will help to achieve the objectives of the Health Economics Unit
  • Contribute to enterprise, business development and/or public engagement activities of manifest benefit to the College and the University, often under supervision of a project leader
