Description:
Are you an experienced senior researcher with expertise in analysing linked individual-level environment and health data? Do you have the ambition to get involved with a ground-breaking research programme? Do you want to contribute to research that will shape the lives of future generations?
We seek a highly motivated team player with a PhD or equivalent in data science, applied statistics, geography, epidemiology, public health or any other relevant area, who has experience in longitudinally analysing measures of the urban environment and health data. Expertise in analysing large-scale longitudinal data in R is essential. SQL skills are desirable. Aptitude to work collaboratively with the wider team of data scientists who can manipulate the health and spatial data generated for large regional populations is essential, as is a willingness to contribute positively to discussions on planned urban changes and related data with local and regional government.

Our vision is to improve health and reduce inequalities through the study of the determinants of health and wellbeing and the policies that impact them.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary national team working on Healthy Urban Places, a UKRI Population Health Improvement Research Cluster Network. Our vision is to provide a step change in understanding how best to harness the power of local urban places as tools to improve population health and reduce inequalities. We are creating a transdisciplinary research programme that will elucidate how and why local environments influence population health. We will be directly influencing the implementation of place-based changes in two cities: Bradford and Liverpool. We are looking for someone who shares our vision to join us in creating an innovative research programme that will actively shape the future.
Working with the Liverpool project lead, Professor Sarah Rodgers, and the team in a supportive research culture in Liverpool, you will use nuanced, longitudinal, causal inference approaches to explore how places impact health. Additionally, you will generate new population wide cohorts from routinely collected health and non-health data within the Connected Bradford¿ and
Civic Data Cooperative¿ (Liverpool) data environments. You will collaborate with health researchers and the wider Healthy Urban Places team in the application of longitudinal spatial and health data in supporting place-based, policy-relevant epidemiological, interventional research, contributing to a collaborative Healthy Urban Places team culture, by promoting team science principles and practices.
Following demonstrable progress towards Healthy Urban Places¿ core research objectives, you will have the opportunity to build your own line of enquiry within the project.
