Description:
THE POST
We are seeking a Research Fellow in Health Economics and Health Policy to contribute to the work of the Peninsula Technology Assessment Group (PenTAG) and Isca Evidence. The role is split 50/50 between the two research groups. The fellow will lead health economics and/or evidence synthesis elements in various areas of health technology assessment and health policy. Both elements require project management and leadership skills.
You will support cost effectiveness-related aspects of projects for policy customers such as NICE and the Department of Health and Social Care across projects within PenTAG and Isca Evidence. This will include working with multidisciplinary teams of systematic reviewers, epidemiologists, statisticians, health economists, information specialists and clinical experts in producing responsive, high-quality outputs under strict deadlines. Key tasks within PenTAG will include appraisal of health economic evaluations, including within-trial evaluations, and critical appraisal and manipulation of economic models, including identification of alternative inputs. Within Isca Evidence you will be an integral member of review teams with specific responsibility for cost-effectiveness aspects but in a role that goes beyond these to include systematic review tasks such as study selection, data extraction, quality appraisal and synthesis.
You will have a role in joining and developing grants and publications relating to HTA across a range of topics, both clinically oriented and public health-oriented. There is scope to develop a substantive area of research and, supported by senior postholders in PenTAG, you will develop an independent profile of publications in health economics.
