Description:
RESEARCH FELLOW IN LCA AND ENGINEERING BIOLOGY
The University of Surrey is a global community of ideas and people, dedicated to life-changing education and research.
We are ambitious and have a bold vision of what we want to achieve - shaping ourselves into one of the best universities in the world, which we are achieving through the talents and endeavour of every employee.
Our culture empowers people to achieve this aim and to collectively, and individually, make a real difference.
Responsibilities:
The School of Engineering at the University of Surrey is seeking to recruit a full-time postdoctoral Research Fellow in LCA and Engineering Biology to work under the leadership of Prof Jhuma Sadhukhan.
The primary objective of this role is to conduct comprehensive research focusing on techno-economic analysis and life cycle sustainability assessment including life cycle assessment, life cycle costing and social life cycle assessment of metal recovery and circular economy through engineering biology. The role will also explore AI for biodiversity and environmental modelling.
The successful candidate will study the sustainability of systems and combine it with AI for intelligent decision-support tools. You will develop the above methodologies for plausible metal bioleaching, biorecovery, bioprocessing, biosensing and bioremediation and compare them against conventional systems and conduct their uncertainty analysis. You will create AI models with large-scale biodiversity and environmental parameter samples. You will also produce educational training materials on the studies you conduct and publish in high-impact journals. You will develop interactive tools for all the work done for users to evaluate and analyse their systems.
