Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you will focus on the experimental realisation of new nano-optical devices and their integration into optical systems. Your work will involve designing and simulating meta-optical devices, undertaking nanofabrication to bring these designs to life, and developing novel methods for their optical and/or electrical characterisation.
Based in the School of Physics at the University of Melbourne’s Parkville campus, you will conduct independent research, publishing your outcomes in conferences and journals, and collaborate with researchers in the Faculty of Science and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, under the supervision of Professor Kenneth Crozier.
This position sits within the ARC Centre of Excellence in Transformative Meta-Optical Systems, otherwise known as, TMOS.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Contribute to and publish academic papers and other scholarly outputs to a high academic standard in accordance with the research expectations of the University of Melbourne
- Facilitate collaboration between the various nodes of the Centre for Transformative Meta- Optical Systems
- Participate in research seminars and conferences to disseminate research findings
- Contribute to the preparation, or where appropriate perform individual preparation, of research proposal submissions to internal or external funding bodies as relevant
- Undertake administrative functions and obligations primarily connected with the staff member’s area of research
