Job description
We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow in Multi-parameter Analysis and Modelling within the Sustainable Environment Research Centre (SERC) at the University of South Wales. This position will help deliver R&D activities on two externally funded projects (one funded through the Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) and another through the Shared Prosperity Fund – Mid Wales Region). The successful candidate is also expected to deliver industrial liaison and dissemination activities. The main purpose of this position will be to undertake multi-parameter modelling investigations, support engagement with external collaborators and support dissemination activities. The role will require an individual with experience (FT)-NIR Spectroscopy and modelling and a good understanding of waste resources and characteristics within a variety of sectors. The postholder will be expected to generate reports and contribute to publications in the areas of (FT)-NIR spectroscopy, data assessment and modelling. The postholder will take the role of carrying out research activities in the laboratory and at collaborating industrial sites by joining an established research group. This role will also involve formal supervision and mentorship of other members of the research group.
Based at Pontypridd, Glyntaff Campus of the University of South Wales, this position will provide you with a role where you can utilise a broad range of research skills across multi-parameter measurements and modelling.
The role is required to accelerate progress in the two externally funded projects. It will therefore require an individual who is highly motivated, organised and able to take the initiative. The Research Fellow will be expected to work independently, as part of a team, and to act as mentor to other researchers within the group. The primary role of the appointee will be the achievement of the project research objectives from the experimental standpoint. The Research Fellow will also be expected to contribute to all aspects of the research including planning and dissemination of research. Therefore, we seek a highly skilled researcher experienced in multi-parameter analysis and modelling.
This post is a part-time, fixed term post available immediately. This role is temporary until 31st January 2025.
