Responsibilities:
The Faculty of Technology, Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation, are seeking to appiont a Research Fellow in Tidal Disruption Events.
The primary focus of this position is to study the physics of tidal disruption events by testing whether the high-ionization iron lines seen in extreme coronal line emitting galaxies are caused by tidal disruption events. If such a connection is proven conclusively, it could be used to map the gas that surrounds supermassive black holes and study the ways in which these black holes turn on and grow over time. The successful candidate will join the research group of Dr Or Graur and contribute to the STFC-funded TDE consolidator grant project.
This is a fixed term contract to 31 March 2026.
Flexible working may be considered and can be discussed at interview.
Hybrid working is available for this role.
Interviews are anticipated to be held 17 February 2025.
