The Griffith Criminology Institute (GCI) is a large, diverse, and high-performing group of scholars focused on crime and justice issues. Through collaboration and innovation our research is helping find solutions to universal problems. GCI hosts the Transforming Corrections to Transform Lives Centre. The Centre’s vision is to support mothers and their children to have safe, dignified, and fulfilling lives, breaking down intergenerational cycles of disadvantage and incarceration, by transforming systems and generating new knowledge for evidence-based programs.
Job Description
The Transforming Corrections to Transform Lives (TCTL) Centre is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow who will make a major contribution to research design, data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and dissemination of findings, across the various work areas of the TCTL Centre. They will provide high level research assistance as directed by the TCTL Centre Director and leadership team. The Research Fellow may supervise Research Assistants for particular aspects of the Centre’s research.

As a Research Fellow, you’ll take on complex local and global challenges, using your skills and experience to drive meaningful change. Here’s how you’ll make it matter:

  • You will conduct research that contributes to the objectives of the Transforming Corrections to Transform Lives Centre.
  • You will develop a good publication record (Grade 1) or maintain a good publication record (Grade 2) in high impact, international, esteemed peer-reviewed journals.
  • You will draw on existing skills and experience to manage the preparation and formulation of publications, presentations and research reports arising from programs, training, evaluations and other research and activities of the TCTL Centre.

This is a fixed term (to 30 June 2027), full-time position primarily based at Griffith University Brisbane South (Mt Gravatt). As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations. Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
