Description:
TE WHIWHINGA MAHI | THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow with an interest in cardiovascular physiology. Experience in methods to be used for experimental data collection (e.g., cardiorespiratory monitoring, sympathetic microneurography, and manipulation of sensory afferent activity (e.g., from the skeletal muscle and carotid bodies) and analysis is desirable. The project is fully funded by a project grant from Manaaki Manawaa – Centre for Heart Research at the University of Auckland and aims to investigate the physiology of hypertension in aortic dissection.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- BSc or equivalent in a relevant discipline (biomedical or health sciences).
- PhD
- Research experience (e.g., published articles or completed projects)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work both in a team and independently, self-motivated, industrious, and has initiative.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Competent computer skills, ability to use spreadsheets and databases.
Responsibilities:
- Obtain training and expertise with methods to be used for experimental data collection (e.g., cardiorespiratory monitoring, sympathetic microneurography, and manipulation of sensory afferent activity (e.g., from the skeletal muscle and carotid bodies) and analysis.
- Patient and control participant recruitment and screening
- Liaise with supervisory team to obtain and maintain appropriate research governance approvals
This is a fulltime (40 hours per week), Fixed term (24 months) starting February 2025 role. The salary for this role is $94,981.
