REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS*
Ph.D and a background in Chemistry.
Responsibilities:
Work will be done with an NIH funded project on development novel PAPP-A inhibitors and compounds targeting protein-protein interactions involved in regulating programmed cell death, apoptosis. In this position, you will be involved in designing, synthesis, optimizing synthetic process and characterization of novel synthesized small-molecule inhibitors with various analytical and preparative techniques including thin-layer chromatography, column chromatography, HPLC, NMR, LC-MS, IR, recrystallization. You will be also involved and have responsibilities on managing hazardous waste, organize chemical inventory, and searching scientific databases (Scifinder). In this position, as part of the multidisciplinary team in my laboratory, you will have an opportunity to gain expertise in medicinal chemistry, structural biology, biochemical and cell-based assays, towards discovery, development and characterization of biological active compounds as potential therapeutics. As your work progresses, there will be fruitful opportunities for you to be involved with other projects, for example developing small-molecule inhibitors targeting epigenetics.
