ABOUT YOU
To be successfull in the role, you will have:
- Evidence of on-going professional development (i.e. formal research management qualification).
- Experience of costing research applications to funding bodies with the Higher Education Sector.
- Experience of managing research income and expenditure within the Higher Education Sector.
- Experience of working within a large and complex organisation.
- Experience and knowledge of using electronic research management and finance systems (such as Worktribe, MyFinance, and JeS).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent IT skills, including advanced Excel
- Ability to effectively provide leadership and line management to staff and support their professional development
- Strong numeracy, ability to analyse complex data, problem solve and make decisions independently.
- Ability to work independently and proactively, organising and prioritising work to meet deadlines, taking initiative as appropriate to provide a high quality service to users

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Research Finance Manager is responsible for leading the research finance team and overseeing the research finance support service in the Cancer Institute; effectively and pro-actively managing the Institute’s research income and expenditure in accordance with strategic priorities and the University’s regulations, policies and procedures.
The post-holder is part of the Cancer Institute Professional Services team providing a joined-up and responsive service to the Institute community.
The post-holder will have successfully delivered research finance administration and management including preparing research budgets, forecasting and implementing processes, and have relevant knowledge of the sector.
The post-holder will lead and motivate the Research Finance team, providing periodic review of the roles’ effectiveness and continuous support of the post-holders’ professional development
