Description:
The post-holder will manage the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Research Unit (EDI-RU), a collaboration between Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) and The University of Manchester. The EDI-RU complements the work of other Research Units within the Trust, with a key focus on bridging the gap between research and practice.
The EDI-RU adopts an intersectional, life-course approach to studying inequalities in mental health, care provision, and outcomes. This includes examining the intersections between mental and physical health and across different protected characteristics and socially excluded groups (Equality Act, 2010). To support this, the EDI-RU will focus on generating high-quality grant and fellowship applications and research outputs. Additionally, the Unit will work to build capacity in EDI research, implementation, service redesign, and evaluation, both within GMMH and beyond. This includes developing training and guidance to improve staff engagement, care, and support. Therefore, the successful candidate must have project management experience, a proven ability to collaborate, and the capacity to seek income-generating opportunities and manage resources effectively. This full-time position is funded until 31st March 2026, with the possibility of extension if further funding is secured.
The successful candidate will support the Unit’s Director, Professor Dawn Edge, and Co-Directors in preparing competitive grant applications and related activities, including stakeholder engagement and income generation.
The postholder will engage with Trust-wide audits and the literature to inform our programme of work. The post holder must be able to take significant responsibility for and development and implementation of specific elements of the research activities conducted by the Unit. Understanding mixed-methods research is essential.
The successful postholder will therefore have project management experience and demonstrable capacity to actively seek opportunities generate income and ability manage resources.
