Pushing the frontier of solid cancer therapy, Neogene Therapeutics is a global, preclinical stage biotechnology company built on the premise of innovation and novel paradigm-changing science. Using tumor mutation profiles to engineer fully individualized T cell therapies, Neogene is bringing new hope to address the current limitations of treatments available today.
We are looking for a enthusiastic Research Intern to join our Process Development (PD) team. PD forms a crucial link between R&D and the final clinical cell product and in this exploratory field continued optimization of the cell product is further developed. This work will help develop a clinical manufacturing process for engineered T cells with patient derived neo-antigen specific TCRs. This requires optimizing and translating research protocols into clinical grade compliant procedures.
In this internship, you will learn about immunology principles and assays, gain experience with cell culturing, T cell gene editing tools (e.g. CRISPR-Cas9), bioprocess development, cGMP manufacturing and flow cytometry. You will report to a Scientist and be mentored by Research Associates in the PD group to experience first-hand what the day-to-day life of an industry researcher is.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- You are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related scientific discipline.
- You have a interest in immunology or immunotherapy.
- Previous experience with cell culture and flow cytometry is preferred.
- You will have the chance to improve your organizational and record keeping skills.
- You will learn the interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills necessary for a very collaborative environment.
- You are self-motivated and willing/able to work with accuracy, following protocols and documentation in a fast-paced company environment.

Responsibilities:
- Participate in the design, execution and support of laboratory studies for development, optimization, and manufacturing of genome engineered TCR T cell product.
- Build and support analytical methods for process development studies.
- Support experimental designs, planning and reporting results of process development studies.
- Present obtained results in internal work discussions.
- Document laboratory procedures and results in electronic laboratory journal.
- Perform general tasks relating to laboratory operations, such as storage of incoming shipments.
