This 60% variable (based on grant funding) position will serve as the Research Manager for the school of nursing’s Family Caregiving Institute on various grants related to understanding and promoting healthy equity for California family caregivers. Under the general oversight of a PI or Project Director (depending on the project), the position will serve as a technical leader with extensive knowledge in the field of health services project management and research. The position will manage programs by formulating strategies, administering policies, overseeing processes, and allocating resources effectively. The Research Manager will also manage activities to achieve the project deliverables, lead in the coordination of internal and external meetings and convenings; prepare IRB submissions; coordinate or lead data collection development, implementation, analyses and reporting; as well as other activities that contribute to the success of the project. The position will report to the director of research administration.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A graduate degree in nursing, health services, gerontology, public health or a related field with five or more years of experience leading complex projects in a healthcare or academic setting, or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in coordinating large community-based and internal committees to facilitate feedback and decision making.
  • Experience working on teams with advanced interpersonal skills. Skills to interact tactfully and diplomatically with a diverse group of people including faculty, staff and students. Successful experience working with people with a wide range of background and skills.
  • Excellent independent decision-making skills to work with ambiguities where clear guidelines are not present. Demonstrated skills to identify issues, provide recommendations referrals, and seek resources to develop solutions.
  • Proven ability to conduct comprehensive research using both peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed resources, and effectively summarize findings.
  • Works well autonomously and adapts easily in fast-paced environments. Shows strong initiative and collaborates effectively in a team setting.
  • Possesses analytical and technical skills for managing and analyzing quantitative data, drawing independent conclusions, and developing goals and plans for resolution.
  • Proficient in qualitative data collection and analysis, including coding and auditing interview and focus group transcripts.
  • Designs and maintains organized systems for collecting, managing, and analyzing data from various sources, such as key informant interviews, focus groups, surveys, and service outcomes.
  • Exhibits exceptional organizational skills, effectively prioritizing tasks, anticipating job requirements, and working under frequent interruptions to achieve timely progress and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, results oriented environment. Uphold all university policies and procedures and follow sound business practices.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Position is expected to be self sufficient with regard to routine clerical duties, e.g. filing, word processing, photo copying, faxing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience working on projects related to health equity, aging or nursing sciences
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis software.
  • Experience with UC Davis IRB process
  • Database development and management skills

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
