Description:

The Clinical Trials function of the Academic Department of Oncology and Haematology at the Queens Centre, Castle Hill Hospital is looking for a Research Nurse to work within the unit to support an increasing portfolio of Oncology/Haematology based clinical trials.
Applicants should be 1st level registered nurses and have significant acute nursing experience. Applications from job seekers who require current Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. You can determine the likelihood of obtaining a Certificate of Sponsorship for the post by assessing your circumstances against criteria specified
on the gov.uk website.
Experience of working in a speciality with cancer related procedures/care or in clinical research, plus a mature attitude, are essential.
The post-holder will be required to work with all members of the multi-disciplinary team in the recruitment, screening and care of patients predominantly in Oncology/Haematology clinical trials. The post requires excellent communication skills, an understanding of scientific protocols, an ability to prioritise workload and to work independently and flexibly.
The successful applicant will need to be enthusiastic and ready to work actively to recruit patients in line with NIHR targets.
The post holder will work as a part of an established team of Research Nurses and Clinical Trials Assistants. Liaison with external research partners such as pharmaceutical companies, research networks and Clinical Trials Units will also be required.
Although the post holder’s primary base would be within academic oncology and haematology, there is an expectation that the post holder will be flexible and responsive to the research needs of the organisation and may therefore be required to work in other research areas or as part of the ‘Generic Research Team’.
Part time of full time hours can be negotiated. The work pattern will be variable between the hours of 8am and 6pm Mon to Fri.
The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.
Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.
Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.
As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.
We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
