ABOUT THE ROLE

Location: Manchester or London, depending on the successful candidate. The London post will be based at Imperial College Hammersmith Campus (East Acton), and the Manchester post based remotely with an office location at Change Grow Live (CGL). The post will involve travel to recruitment sites across either London or Manchester regions, according to post-holder location.
We are looking for a committed and motivated Research Nurse or Clinical Research Practitioner to join the Imperial College Addiction research team to undertake cutting edge clinical research in opioid addiction. You will work with the team to deliver the FORWARDS-2 trial (Facilitating Opiate Recovery: Withdrawal and Abstinence through Detoxification Support-2). FORWARDS-2 is a multi-centre, randomised, controlled trial evaluating whether baclofen can facilitate detoxification or dose reduction from methadone. It is a highly innovative trial aimed to address an immense unmet need in the management of opiate dependence. The trial is taking place in both NHS and non-NHS (third sector) community drug and alcohol services in the North West of England and London.
The post based in Manchester: Office location based at our partner recruitment site Change Grow Live, and the role will take place across local CGL and NHS addiction services that are affiliated with the trial, so travelling between CGL and NHS sites will be a regular feature of this post
The post based in London: Office location based at Imperial College, and the role will take place across local addiction services that are affiliated with the trial, including Central & North West London NHS Foundation trust. Travel between the London sites will be a regular feature of this post.

WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING

You will be primarily responsible for recruitment, participant-facing activities and data collection at the local addiction services. This will involve the planning, co-ordinating and conduct of participant visits and trial-related procedures, in line with the research protocol, according to Good Clinical Practice. You will be the key point-of contact for client and staff queries at the Manchester sites. As a pro-active post holder you will build effective relationships with local Principal Investigators and their addiction service teams. All aspects of the role will be undertaken in collaboration with, and with support from, the trial management team and wider research group based at Imperial College London.
