Research Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Research Nurse to join the Research Nurs ing staff in our d eveloping Research and Innovation delivery team .
As part o f the team carry ing out clinical procedures , you will c ontribut e to the assessment and management of the care pathways for patients and carers p articipating in clinical studies . You will undertake recruitment, education and monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data with focus on increas ing the number of patients participating in clinical studies at Mersey are NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust).
Deploying specialist knowledge and previous experience in clinical research , you will form a key part of the Research & Innovation team , contribut ing to the efficient set up and delivery of research w ithin the Trust .

W orking as part of a MDT to assist in the management of clinical trial patients , m aintain ing effective communication to ensure high quality service delivery .
Manag ing & oversee ing a portfolio of research studies.
Training & assessing research staff as competent in line with the research competencies framework , acting as a resource & role model for all aspects of research clinical practice.
Use relevant clinical knowledge to identify patients suitable for clinical research using inclusion & exclusion criteria and utilising patient records, visiting clinics, wards & outpatients.
Carry out physical assessments, tak e blood/urine samples & process according to specific research protocol.
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of treatment options, treatment side effects & disease processes to support patients.
Provide day to day supervision for band 5 research nurses/ research officers within the research team , with responsible for teaching & delivering core training on competencies within research delivery.
Implementing quality systems to e nsure that the delivery of studies meet requirements with regards to relevant frameworks and p articipate in GCP training, keeping up to date with any changes in legislation or practice .
Work with research teams & investigators to develop strategies to overcome barriers to recruitment & to solve other problems relating to specific studies.
