Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Human Development and Community Wellbeing (HDCW) team at Telethon Kids Institute are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Research Officer to join their team.
The successful applicant will have a key role in progressing the design and development of the ‘NICU Dads Project’. The aim of this project is to identify needs and develop an intervention for fathers of West Australian babies who are admitted to the State’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The project is a collaboration supported by several community, clinical, and research partners. The outcome for the project is to create better outcomes for NICU families, by ensuring that non-birthing parents can also be supported.
Some of your duties will include:
- Managing stakeholder relationships (including fathers and families with lived NICU-experience.
- Developing manuscripts for publication.
- Creating scientific protocols, research documents, and methodological concepts.
- Contributing to ethics applications.
Conducting research with investigators, collaborators, and community partners.
The applicant will report to Dr Vincent Mancini, Senior Research Fellow and will sit within the successful, growing HDCW team. The applicant will be surrounded by excellent researcher’s and supportive program staff. The position is currently appointed for 2 years at 0.6 FTE, with the potential opportunity to extend in the future.
About You
To be successful in the role you must meet the below criteria:
- PhD (or conferral within 6 months of contract start date) in health-related discipline (e.g., Health Promotion, Psychology, Public Health).
- Experience working with community partners, and families, ideally within the neonatal and/or parenting space.
- Experiencing managing a project, including ethics, governance, and reporting processes.
- A track-record of academic outputs (journal articles, conference presentations).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
