Description:

The Department of Pediatric Infectious Disease is seeking a Research Program Coordinator to coordinate the administrative and scientific implementation of a number of research studies. Under supervision of the Research Manager and Principal Investigator, the successful candidate will assist the research team with the conduct of long-term AHRQ-funded or other investigator-initiated research protocols examining the transmission and progression of hospital-associated infections, diagnostic and antibiotic stewardship, and infection prevention.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook) to maintain databases, spreadsheets, and word processing is required.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • The applicant will demonstrate an ability to work well with other professionals with minimal supervision, and comfort being part of a diverse professional team.
  • Requires the ability to flex schedule at the Research Manager’s request to work some evenings or weekends as required by study needs, however most work will be accomplished during normal work hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in clinical or medical research setting preferred, but not required.
  • Prior experience with the Johns Hopkins or equivalent IRB preferred, but not required.
  • Familiarity with Qualtrics and/or REDcap.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the implementation of study protocols in collaboration with the Research Program Manager, PI, and co-investigators.
  • Maintains good working knowledge of all assigned protocols and reporting requirements.
  • Adheres to all protocol requirements to ensure the validity of the clinical research data.
  • Conducts data collection (e.g., abstraction of clinical data from electronic medical records) and maintenance for research study, using RedCap, MS Excel, or similar programs.
  • Laboratory duties include basic lab skills: processing, storing, labeling, and identifying study samples.
  • Follows federal, state, and institutional laws and guidelines to access and maintain confidential paper and electronic records related to the research trial.
  • With assistance, prepares and submits annual renewal requests, amendments and adverse event reports with clinical input according to IRB and Sponsor requirements.
  • If applicable to research protocol, recruits volunteers and obtains informed consent. Monitors subject accrual and follow up visits.
  • Meets regularly with research team to review data accuracy and overall study progress.
  • Potential opportunities to assist in website and social media content development and maintenance.Other duties as assigned.
