Requirements
The Health Care Financing Initiative Research Center (HCFI) at the
McCourt School of Public Policy
fosters research and engagement between our students and faculty, legislative and policymaking leaders, and industry leaders in the areas of health care financing and public policy. The McCourt School established the Health Care Financing Initiative (HCFI) in June 2018 with the generous support of the Institute for Critical Care Foundation (ICCF).
The Research Program Manager supports multiple health economics and ongoing policy research projects. They will assist with the production of research reports for publication or presentation to research sponsors. The Program Manager will also support 2 faculty researchers with administrative responsibilities such as preparing project billing records, and workplan tracking up to 4 projects. Working primarily with Georgetown project team members and reporting to the HCFI Associate Director of Research and Publications, additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Preparation of IRB and Human Subjects Applications

  • Prepare and submit applications to GU IRB for human subjects approval for a project involving women with early-stage breast cancer.
  • Prepare and submit applications to five state cancer registries for human subjects approval for a project involving women with early-stage breast cancer.
  • Assist in preparing the application to obtain and analyze research identifiable data on Medicare beneficiaries with early-stage breast cancer, submitting the application to the CMS privacy board for approval.

Research Project Support

  • Produce reports, tables, and exhibits from team manuscripts, internal working exhibits, and analytical reports drafted by other team members.
  • Assist with literature review and report search projects, maintaining and updating HCFI webpage and Social Media channels with content from ongoing projects.
  • Write, edit, and/or proofread short copy (100-250 words) to accompany written and digital publications.

Project Administration

  • Maintain digital filing system for research or administrative documents: research reports or work products, study data, compliance documentation, training certificates, study protocol documents, and manage version control.
  • Assist with maintaining digital reference materials in Box, RefWorks, and/or Sharepoint as needed.
  • Assist with scheduling project interviews, site visits, and team meetings, as well as with monthly billing documentation, workplan updates, and progress reporting.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health economics, health care finance or another social science, public administration or business management field involving quantitative research, digital communications, project management
  • Interest in health care or human services
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Excel, MSWord, Powerpoint, Teams, Sharepoint) and Google Applications
  • Basic research skills (information search, citations, file management, data extraction)
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail with proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate with non-technical staff and all members of the project team, and to work independently and with the team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a health economics, health care finance or another social science, public administration or business management field involving quantitative research, digital communications, project management
  • At least 2 years prior experience in health care or human services-related field
  • Proficiency with and/or ability to learn new data presentation tools, (ex: Canva, Tableau)

Work Mode Designation
This position has been designated as Hybrid, with the Program Manager expected to work on-site at 125 E. Street three days per week. Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
