Description:
Function/Duties of Position:
As a Research Project Coordinator, this position will be responsible for coordinating and managing clinical research projects and clinical trials in the Center for Embryonic Cell and Gene Therapy (CECGT). Successful candidate will work under the direction of the CECGT Director and Project Managers and will be involved in design, implementation, and evaluation of various clinical projects in the field of cell and gene therapy, which require flexibility, judgment, and unique expertise. The Center for Embryonic Cell and Gene Therapy directly reports to the OHSU Chief Research Officer; thus, this position is expected to communicate with high-level internal and external personnel and must operate with great accuracy and efficiency.
Specific position responsibilities include recruitment, consenting and management of research study participants including oocyte, sperm, skin and blood donors. This position will closely interact with fertility clinics and doctors and manage all clinical procedures of research gamete and embryo donors including, monitoring ovarian cycles and ovarian stimulations, oocyte retrievals and sperm ejaculations. Research Project Coordinator will develop and maintain IRB protocols and other documents through EPIC, eCRIS and the CECGT databases; manage and maintain regulatory meetings and binders such as data safety monitoring committee (DSMC) meetings. Research responsibilities include in vivo and in vitro experiments, DNA sequencing and other molecular biology and developmental biology studies related to genetic, epigenetic, and transcriptomic analyses of gametes, embryos and pluripotent stem cells; managing all databases for research study volunteers including DNA, gamete, embryo and stem cell stem cell databases, performing cellular and molecular biology assays, conducting gene editing studies and participating in scheduled intermittent evening, weekend and holiday work. The Research Project Coordinator will also manage all financial documents and accounts related to clinical expenses and research compensations. This position will also contribute to written progress reports, abstracts, project proposals, grants and presentations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1 year of relevant research experience
- Knowledge of clinical genetics and stem cell biology
- Knowledge of latest sequencing technologies and bioinformatic analyses
- Previous work with scientists in an academic environment
- Appreciating and cultivating a diverse study population
- Self-starter with excellent eye to detail and organization skills
- Independent motivator, strong internal drive to succeed
- Exhibits integrity and openness to learning
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year of demonstrated clinical research experience, skills and knowledge of human gamete, embryo and embryonic stem cell research
- AALAS certification
