Description:

QUALIFICAITONS

Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience as a professional writer or editor in a technical, business, fundraising or other relevant context.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  1. Prefer experience writing, preparing, and publishing Request for Proposal (RFP) responses to governmental agencies for research and development contracts or other technical writing, both solicited and unsolicited. Prefer project management experience related to deadline-driven assignments involving large and diverse teams. A proven track record in government, corporate, and foundation solicitations is helpful. Excellent writing skills and strong verbal communications skills.
  2. Strong organizational/planning skills and the ability to attend to and manage teams.
  3. Ability to prepare, research, and write compliant, persuasive proposal text to meet or exceed RFP criteria.
  4. Ability to synthesize concepts and requirements to create templates, guidelines, summaries, memos, and other tools.
  5. Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively within diverse settings.
  6. High degree of energy, creativity, flexibility, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to facilitate collaborator interactions.
    8.Comprehensive knowledge of grammar and syntax as well as a high level of attention to detail.
  8. Knowledge of higher education is desirable.
  9. Prefer familiarity with governmental grant timelines, ability to track upcoming RFPs, and direct collaborative teams around writing process.
    11.Skills in developing and documenting the grant writing process is desirable.
  10. Prefer demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and exceed expectations through exceptional finished products that deliver results.
  11. Prefer demonstrated ability to write and edit new proposals that contribute to a high proposal win ratio.
  12. Prefer ability to create, rewrite, and update standard template RFP write-ups (e.g. bios, CES description, audit process, etc.).
  13. Prefer ability to review and analyze RFP and related documents.
  14. Prefer ability to utilize detailed proposal schedules and responsibility matrices to ensure a complete and compelling proposal is shipped to customer on time.
  15. Prefer ability to work with the team to obtain writing and subject matter expert resources.
  16. Prefer ability to interview subject matter experts and draft proposal material for their review Prefer ability to maintain electronic and hardcopy proposal libraries.
  17. Ability to meet consistent attendance.
  18. Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors, and customers face to face.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Manage every aspect of individual proposals, especially project management, allowing ample time for the proposals to be written, assembled, checked, proofread, and submitted within required deadlines. In most cases, ideas and solicitation of faculty must take place well in advance of the opportunity in order to propose. (35%)
  2. Edit and/or write compelling proposal text for a wide array of proposal sections, including, but not limited to, introductions, research, education, organizational capabilities, program management, commercialization, etc. (25%)
  3. Research and identify available grants well in advance to be presented to principal investigators. Use identified potential competencies to set up and present information to the principal investigator on the grant, and provide help on proposals to solicit more grant submissions. (10%)
  4. Maintain proposal pipeline database, this includes tracking grant opportunities, submission details and awards, and provide regular updates and reports. (10%)
  5. Work with the school of management finance office to develop office and grant budget projections. Provide insights to the principal investigator on maintaining grant budget. Perform all budget related tasks and processes. Lead the financial management responsibilities of the office. (10%)
